Subterrane - Etching with Aquatint - 2010 - 30 " x18 " - Edition 30 - $1000

I was commissioned to do this print the North Dam Mill in Biddeford, Maine. Back in the summer of 2009 I had a show of my etchings in the mill, a remodeled textile mill now home to businesses, art studios, and apartments. The complex of buildings is a fascinating place, with any number of interesting possible compositions. The mill's owner saw my work in the show and asked me to do a print, and he suggested this spot for me - a great suggestion, as this was probably the most exciting view I found in the entire area. This was a real blast for me to do and with the financial backing of the commission, I was able to tackle this in the largest and most ambitious etching I had yet attempted.
An impression of this print is owned by the Ogunquit Museum of American Art.

The pencil drawing I did on site, on which I based the print. This is the same size as the etching.
